Job summary

Dashiell, an operating unit of Quanta Services, is seeking a Senior Consultant to lead QAQC reviews of electrical substation designs and to drive continuous improvement across its offices. This remote role includes evaluating drawings, calculations, and specifications against NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standards, while mentoring engineers and developing standardized QAQC training.

You will report to the VP of Engineering and periodically travel to Ruston, LA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering from an accredited program.
• Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in electrical substation engineering and design.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE); licensure within one year if not in state of practice.
• Extensive knowledge of substation design including sizing, protection, grounding, one-line development, and drawings.
• Strong knowledge of NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standards as they apply to substation design.
• Experience delivering technical training programs or mentoring engineers; implementing quality standards.
• Experience coordinating engineering practices across multiple offices or project teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work independently and interface with teams, management, and customers.
• Proficiency with MS Office; familiarity with SharePoint or similar platforms preferred.
• Occasional travel to office locations or project sites.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive QAQC reviews of substation design packages to verify accuracy and compliance with standards.
• Conduct independent QAQC audits and maintain an issues log with status tracking.
• Develop, document, and improve QAQC processes and standards across offices.
• Facilitate QAQC feedback meetings with engineering teams to review findings and actions.
• Lead or support investigations of quality escapes and deficiencies with root-cause analysis.
• Lead training and development of engineering staff across offices; mentor engineers.
• Coordinate standardized designs, drawings, and BOM practices across offices to reduce errors.
• Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) as needed for project requirements.
• Provide SME support on customer calls and project quality inquiries.
• Assist engineering teams with design activities during low QAQC workload periods.
• Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
