Job summary

Dashiell, an operating unit of Quanta Services, seeks a Supervising Substation Engineer for its Covington, LA office. The role oversees substation design teams, drives project schedules, and ensures technical and financial performance on multiple concurrent projects.

You will lead engineers, designers, and drafters, applying NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standards while coordinating with construction and procurement to meet milestones and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is required; must obtain licensure if practicing out of state within 1 year.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in the electrical power industry with substations design and engineering.
• Experience managing design teams including engineers, designers, and drafters.
• Extensive knowledge of high-voltage substation components (138 kV+).
• Strong knowledge of NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standards.
• Proficiency with engineering software and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Ensure projects meet quality, schedule, and profitability targets.
• Supervise multiple project teams for on-time completion.
• Assign projects based on requirements and personnel availability.
• Coordinate with construction and purchasing to meet milestones.
• Ensure use of project-specific standards in design work.
• Communicate with customers, teams, and management.
• Prepare schedules and budgets for projects.
• Apply engineering software to ground grid, relay coordination, transformer sizing, short circuit, and load flow studies.
• Supervise project teams and ensure alignment with standards.
• Lead in a cross-functional environment across engineering, construction, and procurement.
