Job summary

Husch Blackwell LLP is seeking a Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain the firm’s data-driven web applications and infrastructure. The role focuses on architecture, performance, and reliability across ID&E systems, with emphasis on AI integration, XR interfaces, and modern UI components.

You will collaborate with Information Engineers, data scientists, and designers to deliver interactive data stories, visualizations, and user interfaces that support firm goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical knowledge
• 5+ years of experience in application engineering or software development with progression toward senior ownership
• Proficiency across the full web stack and back-end services, plus UI collaboration
• Experience designing and owning web app architecture for data-intensive or interactive apps
• Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript and modern front-end frameworks (React, Vue)
• Experience integrating generative AI capabilities and working with LLM APIs
• Knowledge of data pipelines, data APIs, and cloud data platforms
• Experience with Azure or similar cloud platforms, CI/CD, environment management, and security
• Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences
• Interest in emerging interfaces like XR and AI-assisted experiences

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain web application infrastructure and data systems
• Own application-layer technical standards, code quality, and deployment practices
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, and data scientists to deliver data stories and visualizations
• Write production-quality code across the full stack focusing on back-end services and data APIs
• Lead evaluation and deployment of generative AI within apps and information systems
• Prototype architectures for XR and AI-assisted interfaces
• Ensure reliability, security, accessibility, and scalability of ID&E systems
• Research new technologies and establish engineering best practices
• Provide architectural guidance on front-end concerns and design system implementation
