Job summary

Commence is seeking a Senior Quantitative Researcher to lead implementation and evaluation of CMS/CMMI alternative payment models. The role requires hands-on experience with CMS data and a strong analytical skill set, plus the ability to move between implementation and evaluation tasks on a remote basis.

The ideal candidate will have doctoral training in economics or health policy, experience with federal projects, and proficiency in SAS/R/Python/SQL, as well as Databricks and BI tools like

Qualifications

• PhD or doctoral degree in a relevant field with extensive research experience.
• Hands-on experience implementing or evaluating CMS/CMMI APMs across roles.
• Strong analytical and policy-oriented writing skills for federal audiences.

Responsibilities

• Translate model design documents and policy goals into operational methodologies using Medicare/Medicaid data and other sources.
• Develop, refine, and implement value-based care methodologies including screening, monitoring, payments and risk adjustment; quality measures.
• Design and conduct evaluations with comparison groups to estimate impact on healthcare spending, utilization and quality.
• Collaborate with economists, data scientists and engineers to apply ML-based methods on the Commence platform.
• Lead and write methodology documents, evaluation reports and briefings for model teams; manage project priorities and stakeholder communications.
