Placements24 is partnering with a leading developer and operator of renewable energy infrastructure to hire an experienced Project Manager for end-to-end oversight of projects in the Randburg, Gauteng region, with travel as needed.

The role requires a strong background in renewable energy project delivery (solar, wind, or storage), exceptional leadership, planning, and stakeholder management, ensuring on-time, on-budget results with high safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Master's preferred.
• 7+ years of project management, 4+ years in renewables.
• Certification in PMP or Prince2 desirable.
• Strong knowledge of renewables, project finance and development.
• Experience managing budgets over R100 million.
• Proficient with MS Project or Primavera P6.

Responsabilités

• Lead all phases of renewable energy projects from feasibility to handover.
• Develop detailed plans, schedules and budgets.

About the Role

Our client, a leading developer and operator of renewable energy infrastructure, is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee projects primarily in the Randburg, Gauteng area, with potential for travel. This role is crucial for managing the end-to-end lifecycle of renewable energy projects, from initial development through to construction, commissioning, and handover. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in project management, specifically within the renewable energy sector (solar, wind, or battery storage), coupled with exceptional leadership, planning, and stakeholder management skills. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. The Randburg location provides a central base for managing a portfolio of significant green energy initiatives across the province.

Key Responsibilities

• Leading and managing all phases of renewable energy projects, including feasibility, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
• Developing and managing detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Identifying and mitigating project risks and issues.
• Coordinating and managing multidisciplinary project teams, including engineers, contractors, and consultants.
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, permits, and environmental standards.
• Managing stakeholder relationships, including clients, local authorities, and community representatives.
• Overseeing contract negotiation and management with suppliers and contractors.
• Monitoring project progress and reporting regularly to senior management and stakeholders.
• Ensuring adherence to quality control and safety management systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil) or a related field.
• A Master's degree or MBA is advantageous.
• Minimum of 7 years of proven experience in project management, with at least 4 years focused on renewable energy projects.
• PMP or Prince2 certification is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies, project finance, and development processes.
• Demonstrated experience in managing project budgets exceeding R100 million.
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
• Ability to manage complex stakeholder environments and navigate regulatory frameworks.
• Willingness to travel as required for project sites.
