Job summary

Humana is seeking a Senior Product Engineer to own features across the stack, define technical approaches, and leverage AI coding tools daily. You will shape roadmaps, collaborate in cross-functional Agile teams, and deliver WCAG-compliant interfaces and microservices on Azure.

The role emphasizes independent decision making, technical leadership, and measurable impact on Humana’s member experiences. Remote, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years of full-stack web development.
• 2+ years each with React, Node.js, and GraphQL, including accessible UIs meeting WCAG 2.2.
• Experience owning product or technical direction, such as shaping roadmaps or delivering outcomes.
• Hands-on experience using AI coding tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor).

Responsibilities

• Stay close to the problem: Work with users and stakeholders to understand the problems behind their requests, and carry what you learn back into the work.
• Shape what we build: Propose and challenge what goes on the roadmap, turn rough problems into defined work, and write the stories yourself.
• Explore before committing: Run discovery, spikes, and prototypes before investing in a full implementation.
• Own outcomes: Measure success by the impact of your work on adoption, accessibility, performance, and reliability.
• Deliver end to end: Design, develop, and deploy WCAG 2.2-compliant user interfaces, GraphQL APIs, and Node.js microservices on Azure.
• Build quality in: Follow test-driven development, and apply performance and security best practices however fast the tooling lets us move.
• Extend our tooling: Build and maintain the AI coding skills and tooling the team relies on.
• Collaborate: Work with designers, product managers, and other engineers in cross-functional Agile teams, and keep the technical documentation clear.
