Job summary

Ignite Reading is seeking a Senior Platform Engineering Manager, Infrastructure & Data Engineering to lead two teams—DevOps and Data Engineering—supporting a 33-person engineering and analytics organization. You will own cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and the data platform, acting as a player-coach while aligning architecture and security standards.

You will own the SOC2 audit program, mentor engineers, and collaborate across teams to embed best practices.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software, infrastructure, or data engineering.
• 2+ years directly managing engineers.
• Deep expertise in at least one domain: cloud infrastructure/DevOps or data engineering.
• Working fluency in the other domain to guide senior engineers credibly.
• Experience running a team that serves multiple internal customers.
• Familiarity with security/compliance standards such as SOC2.
• Experience developing senior engineers into technical leads.
• Exceptional communication across engineering, data and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead two teams: DevOps (cloud infra, CI/CD, observability, incident response) and Data Engineering (pipelines, warehouse, data platform).
• Provide mentorship and career development for six engineers; develop technical leads.
• Set and drive a unified platform roadmap with leadership; balance infra, data platform, and debt.
• Ensure reliable, secure AWS infrastructure and efficient deployment pipelines.
• Ensure the data platform serves product engineering and analytics teams with data quality standards.
• Oversee monitoring, alerting, on-call, and incident response for high availability.
• Own SOC2 audit cycle and annual penetration test coordination and remediation.
• Collaborate with development teams to embed DevOps and data best practices.
• Contribute technically through specs, design reviews, and architectural guidance.
