Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Staff Payroll Tax Processor for PTO to lead complex state and federal notices and amendments, serving as SME and technical lead. You will own the most challenging cases from intake to closure and mentor less experienced staff while improving processes.

This role focuses on fixing payroll tax problems, not running payroll, with opportunities to collaborate across tax notice teams and contribute to SOPs and knowledge bases.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with focus on tax defect resolution across multi-state.
• Ability to draft penalty abatement requests and agency responses.
• Experience preparing amended Federal and State payroll tax returns (941-X, W-2c).
• CPP/EA/CPA preferred; Enrolled Agent is a differentiator.

Responsibilities

• Resolve complex State and Federal payroll tax notices, owning full case lifecycle.
• Prepare and file amended returns across 10+ states end-to-end.
• Diagnose and resolve payroll tax errors across multiple pay periods or jurisdictions.
• Maintain high productivity resolving Correction, Amendment, and Notice requests.
• Coach and train junior staff; share process knowledge.
• Develop SOPs and KB articles; identify recurring errors.
• Support cross-functional collaboration with Corrections, Amendments, Pay & File, and Tax Notice teams.
