Job summary

Intuit, Inc. in Columbus, OH seeks a Staff Payroll Tax Processor, a senior payroll tax SME, to resolve complex state and federal notices, amend returns, and drive process improvements across the payroll tax lifecycle. You will mentor analysts, own the most challenging cases, and partner with cross-functional teams to optimize outcomes.

The role emphasizes tax defect resolution over payroll processing, with flexible hours, overtime eligibility, and a min of 20 hours weekly, up to 40 as needed.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with focus on tax defect resolution across multiple states.
• Expert knowledge of State and Federal payroll tax notices and ability to draft penalty abatement requests and agency responses with supporting docs.
• Hands-on experience preparing amended Federal (Form 941-X) and State returns across all states including PA, OH.
• Deep knowledge of federal payroll tax law: FICA, FUTA, FITW, tax deposits, penalties.

Responsibilities

• Resolve the most complex state and federal payroll tax notices in the queue, owning full case lifecycle from intake to closure.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns (941-X and state equivalents) across 10+ states.
• Diagnose and resolve payroll tax errors across multiple pay periods or jurisdictions and drive correction workflows.
• Maintain high productivity in resolving Corrections, Amendments, and Notice resolutions with high accuracy.
• Monitor WIP daily; identify aging cases and blockers, driving root-cause analysis to resolution.
