Job summary

SMA America is seeking a Senior Root Cause Analysis Engineer for medium voltage equipment. This hands-on role leads field failure investigations on transformers, switchgear, and converters, performing evidence-based root cause analysis and driving corrective actions with cross-functional teams in the U.S.

and globally. This position requires 7+ years in R&D and quality engineering, travel 20–30%, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; master’s preferred.
• Minimum 7 years in R&D, technical failure analysis and quality engineering with customer relations.
• Hands-on field failure investigations on medium voltage equipment required.
• Ability to present quality findings to senior leadership and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead hands-on field failure investigations on medium voltage equipment and perform site inspections.
• Conduct technical failure analyses and determine root cause using site evidence and tests.
• Apply the 8D method for systematic corrective action.
• Ensure analyses are documented to standards and shared with stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional and international teams to implement corrective actions.
