Job summary

Skydio, the leading US drone company, seeks a Senior Manager of Solutions Engineering for National Security/Defense. This remote role requires ~50% travel, including international travel, to support engagements, field activities, deployments, and events.

You will lead the defense SE team, shape upstream requirements, and ensure accreditation and field readiness across end-to-end UAS solutions. You will work with Sales, Engineering, and Product to translate mission problems into requirements,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant technical experience in a customer-facing role supporting defense customers.
• 5+ years of federal government or defense experience in a discipline relevant to UAS such as operations, maintenance, ISR, test and evaluation, acquisition, or training.
• 1+ years leading a technical team with hiring/mentorship responsibilities.
• Understanding of defense acquisition process from requirements development to evaluation, award and fielding.
• Technical depth in at least one core area: UAS platforms, RF/datalink, sensors, software integration/APIs, cloud/data architecture, or government IT security.
• Comfort operating within a Sales organization, owning a quota and deal strategy, and knowing when to commit technical resources.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to brief operators, program managers and generals without altering facts.
• Lead by example and be willing to do whatever is needed to resolve customer situations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Solutions Engineering team across agencies and components, hiring, onboarding, coaching, and retaining team members.
• Set the bar for technical quality in demos, trial plans, integration designs, RFIs/RFPs, and customer-facing docs.
• Own capacity and prioritize SE time across the segment, communicating tradeoffs to leadership.
• Maintain a sustainable travel-heavy operating rhythm to balance field presence with staff retention.
• Own the technical strategy for pursuits, including evaluation/down-select, PoC design, and a differentiating technical narrative.
• Serve as senior technical escalation point for critical pursuits and field deployments; engage in field as needed.
• Partner with Sales on pipeline, forecast, account planning, and land-and-expand motions.
