Job summary

TISTA Science and Technology Corporation is seeking a Senior System Engineer to join our remote-capable mainframe team. You will install, configure, and maintain IBM z/OS, SMP/E, JCL, and related subsystems, ensuring high availability and reliable performance in a mission-critical environment.

You’ll collaborate with application teams, operations, and vendors to troubleshoot complex issues, implement PTFs, plan IPLs, and support on-call rotations while documenting configurations and procedures

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with IBM z/OS internals and system components.
• Proficient in SMP/E for software installation and maintenance.
• Experience with JCL, REXX, SAS, COBOL, SMP/E, and TSO/ISPF.
• Familiarity with IBM subsystem tools such as BMC MAINVIEW, CMF, AmiOps automation.
• Experience with Phoenix EJES toolset.
• Experience with Innovation FDREPORT IAM.
• Experience with Chicago Soft QwickRef.
• Knowledge of IEBCOPY/IDCAMS/IEBGENER.
• Experience with system IPLs, dump analysis, and problem determination.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain IBM mainframe OS (z/OS).
• Perform installation, upgrades, and maintenance of ISV products using SMP/E.
• Customize system parameters, libraries, subsystems to meet requirements.
• Apply maintenance and plan IPLs.
• Troubleshoot system issues, analyze dumps, and resolve problems.
• Support storage management (DASD, SMS, DFSMS).
• Maintain documentation for configurations and changes.
• Collaborate with teams and vendors for resolutions.
• Participate in on-call rotation and after-hours support.
• May require after-hours maintenance.
