Job summary

Intelletec supports a profitable fintech client seeking a Legal & Compliance Counsel to own the legal and compliance function and guide product development. The role reports to the founder and blends strategic product counseling with hands-on execution, offering autonomy to shape scalable legal operations.

The ideal candidate has fintech startup experience, depth in consumer finance laws, and a passion for practical, tech-enabled solutions aligned with product and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar admission in good standing in a U.S. jurisdiction.
• Experience advising on regulated consumer financial products from development to launch.
• Hands-on experience building legal/compliance functions in a fintech environment.

Responsibilities

• Own the company's legal and compliance function and advise on regulatory strategy.
• Partner with product and engineering to structure and launch consumer financial products.
• Oversee licensing, entity structuring, and regulatory obligations for products and partnerships.
• Draft and maintain policies, disclosures, and product terms; review marketing and customer communications.
• Manage BSA/AML, KYC, privacy, and regulatory examinations; coordinate with outside counsel.
