Owner is seeking its first Senior Corporate Counsel to serve as the embedded legal partner for Product and Engineering, covering payments, fintech regulation, privacy, and AI governance.

This remote role can be based anywhere in the United States, with a preference for SF Bay Area or NYC candidates. You will report to the Head of Legal and help build scalable playbooks to move fast with guardrails.

Qualifications

• J.D. and active U.S. bar in good standing.
• 6+ years of legal experience, incl. in-house product counsel at a tech company.
• Direct AI/ML product advisory experience and AI regulatory knowledge.
• Experience with fintech/payments products (embedded payments, money movement).
• Substantive privacy law experience (CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, state laws).
• Experience in restaurant tech or vertical SaaS preferred.
• Strong builder mentality and process creation ability.

Responsabilités

• Serve as embedded legal counsel to Product, Engineering, and Payments teams.
• Review AI-related products, data sourcing, model risk, and disclosures.
• Advise on regulatory compliance for payments and fintech products.
• Build and maintain privacy program elements for data practices.
• Monitor AI regulation and translate to practical product guidance.
• Draft and negotiate vendor agreements including data/AI terms.
• Advise on accessibility (ADA/WCAG) before launch.
• Partner on regulatory risk for new markets/products.
• Create scalable playbooks and self-serve tools.
• Support incident response for privacy or AI issues.
• Manage outside counsel on regulatory/AI matters.
