Job summary

Sydecar seeks an Associate Counsel to manage risk, support product innovation, and ensure compliance across federal, state, and international laws. You will collaborate with the CEO and Head of Product to keep offerings compliant while reducing friction for users.

You will work with the Head of Legal & Compliance and interact with the CEO, VP of Customer Experience, Head of Product, and VP of Finance to align legal strategy with business growth in a fintech startup.

Qualifications

JD degree and active state bar membership.
Experience with securities, data privacy, contracts, and IP.
Strong negotiation and drafting of complex commercial agreements.
Familiarity with fintech regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

Educate team on legal best practices and maintain internal knowledge base.
Maintain documentation including customer/vendor agreements and fund documentation.
Provide customer support while not acting as counsel for external parties.
Organize and search all legal agreements and corporate records.
Oversee contract negotiations with customers, partners, vendors, and stakeholders.
Advise executive team and other departments on legal matters.
Monitor regulatory changes and update policies accordingly.
Collaborate with external counsel as needed.
Manage legal risks and mitigation measures.
Stay updated on fintech and venture investing trends.
