Job summary

Open Systems Technologies seeks a first Senior Counsel to build and lead the legal function from the ground up in Redwood City, CA. You will partner with the founder and Sales to close high-value enterprise deals while navigating privacy and AI regulatory concerns.

You’ll shape the company’s voice AI strategy, draft templates, manage privacy policies, and oversee outside counsel. A hands-on, fast-paced environment awaits.

Qualifications

• JD and active California State Bar membership.
• 6+ years of commercial or technology transactions experience, or 4+ years in tech transactions at a top-tier law firm.
• Experience advising on privacy and AI regulatory matters (GDPR, CCPA, EU AI Act).
• Strong commercial judgement and ability to negotiate complex agreements quickly and precisely.
• Excellent communication skills, translating complex legal issues into practical guidance.
• Proactive, hands-on approach; capable of operating independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the negotiation and execution of complex enterprise agreements (MSAs, DPAs, BAAs, order forms).
• Build templates, negotiation playbooks, and turnaround standards for Sales.
• Advise on call recording consent, TCPA compliance, AI disclosure requirements, outbound calling regulations, and customer use-case reviews.
• Guide privacy and AI regulatory compliance (GDPR, CCPA, EU AI Act).
• Partner with founder, Sales, and teams to balance legal risk with business goals.
• Oversee legal operations: terms, acceptable use, privacy policies, and outside counsel relationships.
