Job summary

NinjaOne is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and operate Java and Kotlin services for our IT Operations suite. You will focus on performance, scalability, observability, and recovery in a large-scale cloud environment, collaborating with engineers to ship high-quality software that customers rely on worldwide.

You will work on distributed systems in AWS, participate in design decisions, and help ensure production reliability and smooth operations across our endpoints platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in CS, CE, IT, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of Java software development experience for product applications; strong Kotlin a plus.
• 4+ years building highly scalable software systems.
• Experience improving reliability, performance and scalability of services in production.
• Strong OO design skills and applying design principles to complex systems.
• API best practices and REST service development with Jersey/Spring.
• Relational database design and optimization, addressing data bottlenecks.
• Experience with asynchronous design and client-server communication.
• Experience troubleshooting production systems and incident response.
• Strong testing practices and producing dependable software; Redis caching a plus.
• Python experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve Java and Kotlin services used at scale.
• Own production reliability: investigate performance and availability issues and implement fixes.
• Improve system scalability by identifying bottlenecks and designing robust changes.
• Enhance service operability with better health visibility and monitoring.
• Contribute to design decisions, code reviews, testing, deployment, and production troubleshooting.
