Job summary

NinjaOne is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Java) to build and run scalable Java and Kotlin services for our IT Operations product suite. You will focus on production reliability, performance, and observability while contributing to design decisions and code quality.

Located in the USA with flexible remote options; NinjaOne runs on AWS and uses Java, Kotlin, C++, Go, and Postgres to support millions of endpoints.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in CS/CE/IT.
• 10+ years of Java software development experience for product applications; strong Kotlin a plus.
• 4+ years of experience with highly scalable software systems.
• Experience diagnosing and improving reliability, performance, and scalability of services in production.
• Strong object-oriented design skills and design principles for complex software.
• Knowledge of API best practices and REST service development with Jersey or Spring.
• Relational DB design and development; addressing data access bottlenecks.
• Experience with asynchronous design and client-server communication.
• Experience troubleshooting production systems and incident response.
• Strong testing practices for dependable production software.
• Experience with caching systems like Redis; Python a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve Java and Kotlin services at large scale.
• Own reliability in production; investigate performance and availability issues.
• Improve scalability by identifying bottlenecks in code and data access.
• Enhance operability by improving service health visibility.
• Contribute to design decisions, code reviews, testing, deployment, and troubleshooting.
• Perform other duties as needed.
