Job summary

NinjaOne is seeking a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Java and Kotlin to build and run reliable, scalable services for our IT Operations platform. You will ship high-quality software that handles millions of endpoints worldwide and address performance, observability, and recovery challenges in production.

You will collaborate with engineers to design, implement, and optimize mission-critical systems running on AWS, with hybrid remote options for U.S.-based candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years of Java software development experience for product applications; strong Kotlin a plus.
• 4+ years of experience with highly scalable software systems.
• Experience diagnosing and improving reliability, performance, and scalability of services in production.
• Strong object-oriented design skills and experience with design principles.
• Knowledge of API best practices and REST service development (Jersey or Spring).
• Relational database design and development; optimize data access bottlenecks.
• Experience with asynchronous app design and client-server communication.
• Experience troubleshooting production systems and incident response.
• Strong testing practices to ensure production reliability.
• Experience with caching systems (Redis) a plus; Python is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve Java and Kotlin services for the IT Operations product suite.
• Own reliability in production; investigate issues and implement lasting improvements.
• Improve scalability by identifying bottlenecks in code, data access, and service interactions.
• Enhance observability and operability of services for faster detection and resolution.
• Contribute to design decisions, code reviews, testing, deployment, and production troubleshooting.
• Perform other duties as needed.
