Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Senior Inpatient Facility Certified Medical Coder for a fully remote role in the U.S. You will assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient services, ensure DRG accuracy, and uphold coding guidelines.

The role includes a $5,000 sign-on bonus for external applicants and comprehensive benefits. Qualifications include AHIMA/AAPC credentials, 3+ years of acute care inpatient coding, and trauma center experience.

Qualifications

• use AHIMA/AAPC credentialing (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC or CPC-H) with annual maintenance
• 3+ years of acute care inpatient medical coding experience in hospital/ facility settings
• 2+ years in Level 2+ trauma centers or teaching hospitals with complex procedures
• 2+ years ICD-10-CM/PCS and DRG coding experience
• ability to pass pre-employment requirements including drug screen and background check

Responsibilities

• Identify ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient services and their impact on DRG considering CC/MCC
• Abstract data elements during chart review as needed
• Adhere to official coding guidelines and client guidelines
• Maintain coding quality and productivity standards as established by Optum360
• Provide documentation feedback to providers and query physicians when appropriate
• Stay updated on coding knowledge via QM Manager and Coding Directors
• Participate in department meetings and educational events
• Review charts coded, held, or missing
