Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• AHIMA/AAPC credentialing (CCA, CCS, RHIA, RHIT, CPC-H/COC, CIC, CCS-P, CPC) maintained annually.
• 3+ years inpatient DRG coding in an acute care facility setting.
• 3+ years ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and DRG coding using an encoder.
• Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Excel; experience with EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Identify appropriate assignment of ICD-10 CM, ICD-10-PCS, DRG, and abstraction for facility services following official guidelines and client coding guidelines.
• Expert knowledge in Inpatient DRG Coding.
• Abstract additional data elements during chart review when coding as needed.
• Maintain coding quality and productivity standards established by Optum.
• Query physicians when appropriate.
• Keep up-to-date coding knowledge via QM Manager and Directors.
• Participate in coding department meetings and educational events.
• Additional responsibilities as identified by manager.
