Job summary

Optum is seeking a Certified Sr. (IP) Acute Edits Medical Coder to work remotely from anywhere in the United States. You will ensure accurate inpatient ICD-10-CM/PCS coding, DRG impact, and proper documentation feedback to physicians under supervision.

Required are AHIMA/AAPC credentials and 3+ years inpatient coding, with OSHPD/EPIC experience a plus. This full-time remote role offers standard business hours and benefits.

Qualifications

• Professional coder certification with AHIMA and/or AAPC.
• 3+ years inpatient ICD-10-CM/PCS coding experience.
• 2+ years with OCE, MUE and NCCI structures.
• Proficient in Windows, MS Excel and EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Identify ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for inpatient hospital services and DRG impact.
• Assign CPT/ICD-10 codes for outpatient services per guidelines.
• Understand APC codes and Medicare guidelines.
• Abstract data elements during chart review as needed.
• Provide documentation feedback to physicians and query when appropriate.
• Maintain coding knowledge per QM Manager and Directors.
• Participate in department meetings and education events.
• Review charts coded, held, or missing.
