Job summary

Samsara is hiring a Senior Engineer for the Infrastructure organization to evolve cloud foundations across multi-account AWS environments. You will reduce production risk, improve resilience, and build automated, self-service workflows while mentoring engineers and shaping platform strategy.

You will work with compute, networking, storage, and control planes, applying experience to scale systems safely. This remote US role supports flexible working and global impact.

Qualifications

• 6+ years designing and building software, infrastructure, or distributed systems.
• Deep expertise in compute/workload orchestration, networking, storage/stateful systems, or cloud infrastructure control planes.
• Strong software fundamentals in Go, Python, Java, or similar.
• Hands-on experience designing and operating infrastructure on a major public cloud (AWS preferred).
• Experience using infrastructure as code, such as Terraform.
• Strong understanding of capacity management, failure domains, observability, rollout safety, and production recovery.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical initiatives across teams in ambiguous spaces.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for major infrastructure systems and lead ambiguous initiatives spanning multiple teams.
• Design, build, and operate reliable cloud platforms, with depth in compute, networking, storage, stateful systems, or infrastructure control planes.
• Improve scalability, capacity management, isolation, recovery, and cost efficiency of critical production infrastructure.
• Build standardized infrastructure-as-code workflows and reusable automation for self-service provisioning, testing, rollout, reconciliation, rollback, and drift prevention.
• Identify shared failure modes and build safeguards to prevent localized failures from broad customer impact.
• Contribute to multi-account, multi-region AWS architectures, including GovCloud environments.
• Participate in operational ownership and incident response to drive durable architectural improvements.
• Mentor engineers and promote best practices across the organization.
• Clearly communicate architecture, trade-offs, risks, and migration plans to stakeholders.
