Job summary

Samsara seeks a Staff Application Security Engineer to lead vulnerability management across cloud, firmware, and SaaS, shaping security strategy and program direction. You will build scalable tooling, mentor engineers, and partner with cross-functional teams to reduce risk while aligning with Samsara's growth and AI-forward security goals.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant experience in cloud or security engineering.
• Ability to independently set technical and architectural direction for a security program.
• Experience with Wiz and Semgrep; familiarity with CVSS/EPSS scoring.
• Deep understanding of SAST, DAST, and SCA.
• Hands-on use of AI/LLM tooling in security workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy, operation, and continuous improvement of the vulnerability management program.
• Own MTTR reduction across the vulnerability backlog and SLAs.
• Build automation and tooling that scales detection and response across cloud and firmware/IoT.
• Set technical direction for the program and translate priorities into execution plans.
• Drive remediation by partnering with engineering and program management.
• Mentor engineers on secure design and remediation practices.
• Communicate risk and remediation tradeoffs to engineering leadership.
• Participate in security incident investigations for high-profile vulnerabilities.
• Be on call to support critical vulnerability response.
• Embed Samsara’s cultural principles as we scale globally.
