Job summary

Samsara is seeking a Senior Engineer in the Infrastructure org to evolve cloud foundations across products. You will reduce production risk, build scalable, cost‑efficient platforms, and lead cross‑team initiatives in a multi‑account AWS setup.

You’ll mentor engineers, champion durable architecture, and collaborate with product teams to improve reliability and operability at scale. Remote-friendly with a flexible working model.

Qualifications

• 6+ years designing and building software, infrastructure, or distributed systems.
• Deep expertise in one of: compute/workload orchestration, networking, storage/stateful systems, or cloud infrastructure control planes.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals in Go, Python, Java, or similar.
• Hands-on experience with major public cloud platforms; AWS preferred.
• Experience using infrastructure as code (Terraform) to manage production infra.
• Understanding of capacity management, failure domains, observability, rollout safety, and production recovery.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate reliable cloud platforms with depth in compute, networking, storage, stateful systems, or infrastructure control planes.
• Improve scalability, capacity management, isolation, recovery, and cost efficiency of production infrastructure.
• Create infrastructure‑as‑code workflows and reusable automation for self‑service provisioning, testing, rollout, reconciliation, and drift prevention.
• Identify shared failure modes and build safeguards to prevent broad customer impact.
• Contribute to multi‑account, multi‑region AWS architectures, including GovCloud when applicable.
• Participate in incident response and use incidents to drive durable architectural improvements.
• Mentor engineers and promote architectural patterns across the organization.
• Communicate architecture, trade-offs, risks, and migration plans to stakeholders.
• Champion Samsara’s cultural principles as we scale globally.
