Job summary

FNTS is seeking a Senior IBM iSeries Engineer to maintain customer IBM i environments and support migrations, with a focus on reliability and operational excellence. This role is remote from anywhere in the US and does not sponsor work authorization at this time.

Ideal candidates have extensive IBM i expertise, strong problem-solving abilities, and the capability to collaborate across teams on complex infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

• IBM iSeries administration expertise with 10+ years of experience.
• Knowledge of i/OS from V5R4 to V7R3 and POWER systems hardware.
• Experience configuring LPARs using HMC.
• Familiarity with JBOD, RAID, SAN storage and backup strategies.
• Experience with CL programming and system automation.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Respond to incidents and requests with in-depth analysis to meet SLAs.
• Review issues to identify proactive improvements as part of Continuous Improvement.
• Perform reporting functions for customers.
• Prepare DR Testing/Planning, OS upgrades, PTF deployment.
• Maintain IBM i OS and Licensed Program Products (LPPs).
• Write and maintain system documentation.
• Assist migration to FNTS or remote management setups.
• Implement technologies per roadmap, including new hardware/OS features like Live Partition Mobility (LPM).
• Install new OS and major subsystem releases with planning/testing.
• Maintain golden/sandbox templates.
• Participate as IBM i SME in infrastructure projects.
