First National Technology Solutions (FNTS) is seeking a Sr. IBM iSeries Engineer to maintain IBM i environments, plan migrations, and support break/fix capacity.

This remote role spans the US, with focus on live partition mobility, backups, DR planning, and collaboration with customers to implement new offerings. The ideal candidate has extensive IBM iSeries systems experience, proficiency in CL, TCP/IP, and storage technologies, and can work independently while communicating clearly with

Qualifications

• IBM iSeries System Administration with 10+ years experience.
• Knowledge of i/OS from V5R4 to V7R3 and major differentiators.
• Knowledge of POWER systems hardware.
• Experience configuring LPARs using the Hardware Management Console.
• Experience with JBOD/RAID/SAN storage.
• Experience defining and troubleshooting Printer configurations.
• Experience TCP/IP in an IPv4 environment (IPv6 desired).
• Understanding of journal management.
• Software replication (MIMIX, iTera, PowerHA).
• BRMS backup solutions for system recovery/migration.
• Tape library configuration and implementation.
• OS Upgrades, PTF Deployment and software installation via Image Catalog.
• Experience using MPG and automation/monitoring tools (Halcyon, absMessage, Robot).
• CL programming knowledge.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and communicate well.

Responsibilities

• Respond to incidents and requests with in-depth analysis and solutions to meet SLAs.
• Review issues to proactively avoid future problems as part of Continuous Improvement.
• Perform reporting functions as required by the customer.
• Prepare DR testing/planning, OS upgrades, PTF deployment.
• Maintain IBM i OS and Licensed Program Products (LPPs).
• Write and maintain system documentation.
• Assist migration of customer systems to FNTS or remote management.
• Implement technologies per team roadmap, including Live Partition Mobility when applicable.
• Install new software releases with timing/testing/implementation.
• Maintain golden/sandbox templates.
• Participate in technical infrastructure projects as the IBM i SME.
