Job summary

First National Technology Solutions (FNTS) is seeking a Sr. IBM iSeries Engineer to manage IBM i environments, plan migrations, and support remote operations for clients across the US.

The role focuses on reliability, backups, and implementing core IBM i capabilities with a strong emphasis on live partition mobility and high-availability strategies. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years in IBM iSeries administration, strong OS knowledge, and hands-on experience with CL coding and automation

Qualifications

• Extensive IBM iSeries system administration experience required.
• Knowledge of i/OS versions from V5R4 to V7R3 and POWER hardware.
• Experience with LPARs, TCP/IP in IPv4 (IPv6 a plus).
• Familiarity with tape/backup and software replication methods.
• Ability to work independently and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Respond to incidents and provide in-depth analyses to meet SLAs.
• Support migrations and remote management setups for clients.
• Install OS and major subsystem releases with customer coordination.
• Document systems and participate in infrastructure projects as IBM i SME.
