Job summary

FNTS is hiring a Sr. IBM iSeries Engineer to maintain customer IBM i environments and drive efficient problem solving. The role supports migrations, backups, and break/fix activities as part of a managed services team.

The position is remote (work from home) anywhere in the United States, with no sponsorship. The ideal candidate has 10+ years in IBM iSeries administration and hands-on experience with LPARs, TP/IP, BRMS, and related tools.

Qualifications

• IBM iSeries System Administration experience (10+ years).
• Knowledge of i/OS systems from V5R4 to V7R3.
• Experience with POWER systems hardware.
• Experience configuring LPARs via HMC.
• Experience with JBOD, RAID, SAN storage environments.
• Experience with TCP/IP in IPv4 environments.
• Knowledge of journal management and BRMS backup solutions.
• Experience with CL programming.

Responsibilities

• Respond to incidents and requests, provide in-depth analysis and solutions.
• Proactively identify opportunities to avoid future problems.
• Perform reporting functions as required by customers.
• Participate in DR testing/planning and OS upgrades.
• Maintain IBM i OS and LPP configurations.
• Document system configurations and procedures.
• Assist with migrations and remote management setups.
• Implement technologies per team roadmap, including new hardware features.
• Install software releases and coordinate testing with customers.
• Maintain templates and golden/sandbox systems.
• Contribute as IBM i SME on infrastructure projects.
