Job summary

First National Technology Solutions (FNTS) seeks a Sr. IBM iSeries Engineer to maintain IBM i environments and enable efficient problem solving. You will plan migrations, backups, and break/fix activities while supporting remote management for US-based customers.

The role requires strong IBM i experience, LPAR and storage skills, and proficiency with replication and DR planning. Remote work from anywhere in the US is supported; sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• IBM iSeries System Administration with 10+ years of experience.
• Knowledge of i/OS from V5R4 to V7R3 and major differentiators.
• Knowledge of POWER systems hardware.
• Experience configuring LPARs using HMC.
• Experience with storage management (JBOD/RAID/SAN).
• Experience defining/troubleshooting printer configurations.
• Experience TCP/IP config in IPv4 (IPv6 desired).
• Understanding journal management.
• Software-based replication (MIMIX, iTera, PowerHA).
• BRMS backup solutions for recovery/migration.

Responsibilities

• Respond to incidents and requests with in-depth analysis and solutions.
• Review issues and identify proactive improvements for service reliability.
• Perform reporting functions as required by customers.
• Prepare activities (DR testing/planning, OS upgrades, PTF deployment).
• Maintain IBM i OS and LPPs configurations.
• Write and maintain system documentation.
• Assist migration to FNTS or remote management setup.
• Implement roadmap-driven technologies and perform OS/software upgrades.
• Maintain templates and golden/sandbox systems.
