Job summary

MAXIMUS is seeking a FULL TIME Senior IBM COBOL Developer to support our IRS client. This is a remote position and requires an active Moderate-Risk Background Investigation (MBI).

The role involves leading the development of COBOL software, evaluating new techniques, and engineering solutions in alignment with system requirements. Responsibilities include coding, unit testing, documentation updates, and collaboration with managers and engineers to clarify program intent and improve efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required with 5+ years of relevant experience or equivalent.
• Active IRS Moderate-Risk Background Investigation (MBI) is required.
• Minimum 4+ years of IBM COBOL programming experience with DB2 and IBM DB2 utilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of software solutions meeting business requirements, including design, unit testing, debugging, and documentation.
• Evaluate new coding techniques, tools, and modules and implement where appropriate.
• Consult on requirements elicitation and definition; design software solutions per system requirements.
