Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC, seeks a Senior Functional Analyst to lead capturing and documenting business requirements for software development teams on federal programs. This is a fully remote, U.S.-based role with Public Trust (MBI) clearance expectations and a strong emphasis on SAFe/Agile methods.

You will partner with business users, IT, and leadership to elaborate requirements in ALM tools (JIRA), manage backlogs, write acceptance criteria, and ensure traceability from stories to tests.

Qualifications

• Must have strong background in software development and SAFe/Agile
• Excellent written and oral communication to customers and stakeholders
• Attention to detail, problem-solving and customer service
• Experience researching to resolve complex questions
• Advanced MS Office proficiency including Excel
• Analytical skills across multiple information sources
• Experience with JIRA tools
• Experience in large, Agile software development or data integration projects

Responsibilities

• Lead capture of business requirements for software development teams
• Collaborate with users, IT and leadership to document requirements in an ALM tool
• Manage requirements in an ALM tool
• Perform Agile requirement management for a product team
• Analyze user needs to determine functional and technical requirements
• Conduct user interviews and develop business process models
• Gather and document requirements from customers, team members and stakeholders
• Elaborate user stories, decompose backlog items, and define acceptance criteria
• Use JIRA for requirements management, testing, and defect tracking
• Track and report system and business requirements progress
• Validate requirements and integration
• Conduct backlog refinement sessions
• Coordinate with Systems Engineers on technical impact
• Manage requirements across projects
• Produce project documents for the client
• Identify and manage risks and issues impacting scope
• Maintain project/product backlogs and change control
• Develop Change Requests
• Facilitate configuration management for artifacts
• Ensure traceability among requirements, tests, and risks
• Collect and report execution status and metrics across SAFe lifecycle
• Identify tasks and interrelationships to form well-documented stories
• Become a product functional SME
• Mentor junior analysts
• Build strong relationships with product owners
• Support development team in understanding requirements
• Follow Scrum and deliver requirements for Sprint teams
• Remove impediments to complete Sprints
• Provide clear qualitative and quantitative information to teams
• Support change control processes
