Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC seeks a Senior Functional Analyst to lead requirements capture for software development teams in a federal context. This remote, full-time opportunity supports the Veterans Affairs department and requires U.S. citizenship and a Public Trust (MBI) clearance.

You will collaborate with business users, IT, and leadership, maintain ALM artifacts in JIRA, drive agile requirement management, and mentor junior analysts while aligning with SAFe practices.

Qualifications

• Experience with SAFe/Agile methodologies.
• Excellent oral and written communication to various audiences.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience performing independent research for complex questions.
• Advanced experience with MS Office (incl. Excel).
• Expertise with JIRA tools and requirements management.

Responsibilities

• Lead the capture of business requirements for software development teams.
• Collaborate with business users, IT, and leadership to elaborate and document requirements in an ALM tool.
• Manage requirements in an ALM tool.
• Perform Agile requirement management activities for a product team.
• Perform the analysis of user needs to determine functional, cross-functional, and technical requirements.
• Conduct user interviews and develop business process models and specifications.
• Gather and document requirements from customers and stakeholders.
• Develop acceptance criteria and decompose user stories into backlog items.
• Use JIRA for requirements management, testing, and defect tracking.
• Monitor and validate system and business requirements.
• Conduct backlog refinement sessions.
• Coordinate with Systems Engineers on technical impacts.
• Manage requirements for multiple projects and write client documents.
• Identify risks and issues and manage change control.
