Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a talented Senior Functional Analyst for a fully remote role supporting the Veterans Affairs department. This is a full-time position requiring experience in Agile/SAFe, requirements management, and collaboration with IT and business stakeholders to deliver documented user stories and acceptance criteria.

Candidates should have federal government experience, ability to lead backlog refinement, and proficiency with JIRA. U.S.

Qualifications

• Strong background in software development and Agile/SAFe methodologies.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills to convey complex topics to diverse audiences.
• Attention to detail, customer service mindset, and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience conducting independent research to support complex questions.
• Advanced experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
• Analytical skills with ability to synthesize information from multiple sources.
• Experience using JIRA for requirements management and backlog handling.
• Experience in large, Agile software development or data integration projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead capture of business requirements for software development teams.
• Collaborate with business users, IT, and leadership to elaborate and document requirements in an ALM tool.
• Manage requirements in an ALM tool and perform Agile requirement management for a product team.
• Analyze user needs to determine functional, cross-functional, and technical requirements.
• Conduct user interviews and develop business process models and formal specifications.
• Gather and document business, functional, technical, and non-technical requirements from stakeholders.
• Elaborate user stories, decompose backlog items, and define acceptance criteria.
• Use JIRA for Requirements Management, Testing, and Defect Management.
• Monitor and trace requirements, test cases, and potential risks.
• Coordinate with Systems Engineers to assess impact on technical solutions.
