Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking a Senior Field Property Adjuster to independently manage moderate to high‑value field property claims across the Springfield, IL area, with remote work options. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with claim handling.
• Typically requires 5-10 years of adjusting experience.
• Must have and maintain appropriate state adjuster licenses, continuing education credits, and a valid driver’s license.
• Strong Xactimate proficiency, preferably Level II Certified.
• Strong knowledge of local geography, regulations, and public safety agencies, and ability to build rapport with insureds.
• Skilled in negotiation and developing strategies to influence outcomes.
• Communicates clearly and effectively in written and verbal formats.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage field property claims, including those requiring outside field investigations and catastrophe (CAT) response.
• Lead thorough investigations, assess coverage, and issue documents including reservation of rights and coverage letters.
• Identify and pursue subrogation opportunities; set up files to support recovery efforts.
• Maintain comprehensive claim records, ensuring documentation and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, lead cross-functional meetings, and represent the company in mediations or trials.
