Job summary

Sargent & Lundy Consulting (SLC) seeks an experienced energy consulting professional to guide clients through the energy transition, from new generation and grid modernization to data center energy campus development.

You will join multidisciplinary teams, delivering rigorous analysis and practical recommendations, with extensive exposure to executives and technical experts. This is a full-time, client-facing opportunity across the United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, finance, business, public policy, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in the energy/power industry, including at least three years in consulting or advisory roles.
• Prior consulting/advisory experience with a consulting firm, advisory practice, or within an engineering firm or energy company with direct client interaction.
• Demonstrated experience with electric or gas utilities, IPPs, project developers, grid operators, or energy investors.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in quantitative models, large data sets, and financial/economic analysis.
• Ability to produce clear, well-structured deliverables (Excel models, PowerPoint decks, written reports) and communicate to non-technical audiences.
• Experience participating in client meetings, workshops, or presentations; comfortable engaging with client stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced consulting environment.
• High initiative, ownership, and accountability with high-quality output.

Responsibilities

• Support project development and strategic planning, including market, technology, and policy assessments.
• Lead and contribute to project economic and cost analyses, risk assessments, and contracting strategies.
• Support or manage technical due diligence and owner’s engineering reviews for power and energy projects.
• Provide client program and project management support, including governance, processes, controls, and stakeholder alignment.
• Develop conceptual plans with Sargent & Lundy’s technical teams.
• Prepare and present project implementation strategies and plans to client executives and project teams.
• Translate complex technical findings into client-ready deliverables, including presentations and reports.
• Lead discrete workstreams within larger client engagements.
• Coordinate day-to-day activities of junior team members and review their work products.
• Contribute to business development, including proposal preparation and client relationship building.
