Job summary

Sargent & Lundy Consulting (SLC) seeks an experienced energy consulting leader to manage major advisory projects for utilities, IPPs, and investors. This is a remote/virtual role, open to candidates anywhere in the United States, with frequent client interaction and cross-functional collaboration across engineering, finance, and strategy teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering (or related fields) with 15+ years in the power industry.
• Experience with multiple power generation technologies, including conventional and renewables.
• Experience managing teams of engineers or consultants.
• Direct client interaction and responsibility for analytical work products.
• Experience with utilities, IPPs, project developers, grid operators, or energy investors.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with quantitative models and financial analysis.
• Ability to produce clear deliverables (Excel models, PowerPoint decks, reports).
• Experience leading client meetings or presentations.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced consulting environment.
• High initiative and accountability with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic planning consulting projects across markets, technology, and policy.
• Conduct project economic analyses, risk assessments, and contracting strategies.
• Manage technical due diligence and owner's engineering reviews for energy projects.
• Provide program and project management support to improve governance and processes.
• Develop conceptual plans with technical teams to meet client needs.
• Prepare and present project implementation strategies to executives.
• Translate complex technical findings into client-ready deliverables.
• Lead discrete workstreams within client engagements.
• Coordinate day-to-day activities of junior team members.
• Develop staff expertise through training and mentoring.
• Contribute to business development and client relationships.
