Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Chicago seeks a senior energy consulting professional to join our SLC group. This client‑facing role combines a hybrid work arrangement with in‑person collaboration, focusing on market analyses, project economics, risk assessments, and strategy for power projects.

You will lead workstreams, mentor junior staff, and deliver clear client deliverables, from Excel models to presentations, supporting utilities, IPPs, developers, and investors in the energy transition.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, finance, business, public policy, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in the energy/power industry, including consulting or advisory roles.
• Experience with electric or gas utilities, IPPs, developers, grid operators, or energy investors.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with quantitative models and economic analysis.
• Ability to produce clear deliverables and communicate complex topics to non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Support project development and strategic planning, including market, technology, and policy assessments.
• Lead and contribute to project economic and cost analyses, risk assessments, and contracting strategies.
• Support technical due diligence and owner’s engineering reviews for power projects.
• Provide client program and project management support, governance improvements, and stakeholder alignment.
• Develop conceptual plans with technical teams and present strategies to clients.
