Job summary

Protingent Staffing is seeking a Pump Subject Matter Expert, Electrical for a contract engagement. The role focuses on oversight of first-of-a-kind large nuclear fluid pumps, with responsibility for electrical systems, ASDs, and motor design from cradle to grave.

The successful candidate will review supplier deliverables, author specifications, and support pump development and maintenance planning. Travel is modest and the position is remote-friendly with competitive pay rates.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university with 15+ years of direct electrical systems experience.
• Experience with electrical systems, ASDs, and large electric motors.
• Experience with large vertical pump design and manufacture.
• Experience with full hardware lifecycle, cradle to grave.
• High temperature and multi-discipline integration with nuclear handling/process systems is a plus.
• Strong electrical aptitude with motors, ASDs, and instrumentation.
• Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills; detail oriented.
• Self-starter who can coordinate and lead a design team with minimal direction.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight for first-of-a-kind large nuclear fluid pumps through design, testing, and manufacturing.
• Oversee electrical systems for pump, motor, ASD, and lube oil skid design.
• Review supplier deliverables to ensure pump design operates as needed.
• Author and maintain specifications and other design inputs for pump design.
• Support pump maintenance and operation planning.
• Plan and oversee testing efforts, including pump qualification programs.
• Ensure application of design codes and standards (ASME, ANSI, ASTM, IEEE, NFPA).
• Provide guidance on nuclear and non-nuclear design standards and regulatory requirements.
• Establish and allocate system requirements and engineering specifications.
• Oversee development and integration of P&IDs, 3D models, and interface drawings.
• Lead preparation and coordination of complete design packages.
• Support project planning and scheduling for plant design delivery milestones.
