Job summary

Protingent Staffing is seeking a Senior Fuel Handling Mechanical Design Engineer for a contract opportunity. The role emphasizes mechanical design, CAD modeling in SolidWorks, and ASME code compliance within a nuclear-related context.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in GD&T, manufacturability, and assembly considerations, with strong written and verbal communication to support design reviews and project teams. Remote work is acceptable, with occasional travel as needed.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; advanced degrees credited for experience.
• 8+ years CAD proficiency, SolidWorks preferred.
• 10+ years equipment/component design experience.
• GD&T per ASME Y14.5M experience.
• DFM and DFA experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate inputs from Engineering/Project teams to produce design solutions.
• Provide planning and schedule input for design activities.
• Create CAD models and engineering drawings; apply ASME standards.
• Perform scoping analyses and calculations for design options.
• Interface with analysis and testing activities; present review results.
• Lead design reviews and assess technical merit of solutions.
