Job summary

Protingent Staffing is seeking a System Design Engineer for EM Pump on a contract basis. You will own the design, development, and testing of submersible electromagnetic pumps, guiding simulations, analyses, and prototype work.

This role requires coordinating with multiple disciplines, suppliers, and QA processes to deliver robust pump solutions. The ideal candidate brings 10+ years in EM pump design, strong thermohydraulic and MHD knowledge, and proficiency with COMSOL and MATLAB.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with 10+ years direct experience with electromagnetic pumps.
• Experience with thermodynamics, magnetohydrodynamics, fluids, heat transfer.
• Deep understanding of EM pumps in liquid metal environments.
• Expert level experience using COMSOL Multiphysics and MATLAB.
• Experience with CFD/FEA on complex components.
• Ability to run and understand Aspen HYSYS Plus.
• Experience with piping systems and reading P&IDs.
• Familiarity with ASME, BPVC, API design codes.
• Quality standards like ASME NQA-1, AS 9100, ISO 9001.

Responsibilities

• Support all aspects of EM Pump design and development.
• Own submersible EM pump design, fabrication and operation.
• Develop understanding of thermohydraulic and magnetic design aspects.
• Support integration into processing system models in Aspen HYSYS Plus.
• Perform analyses (thermal, seismic, structural, pipe stress, heat transfer).
• Support prototype testing and rapid turnover modifications.
• Coordinate testing programs and evaluate results.
• Interface with design teams to manage drawings and specs.
• Ensure conformance to design codes and regulatory criteria.
• Oversee supplier projects and technical reviews.
