Job summary

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company seeks an Underwriting Consultant for Brokerage Excess to underwrite complex risks, develop pricing with actuarial input, and manage broker relationships across Excess & Surplus lines.

You will oversee policy changes, evaluate reinsurance options, and mentor junior underwriters while supporting marketing and training initiatives. Travel to broker offices is required.

Qualifications

• Eight years of commercial lines underwriting experience, large or complex accounts preferred.
• Experience with Excess & Surplus lines is desirable.
• Knowledge of reinsurance and facultative market concepts is expected.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite individual risks for acceptability, pricing, coverage, and terms.
• Develop rates with actuarial support and manage broker relationships.
• Place reinsurance per guidelines and mentor underwriting staff.
