Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Senior Director of Tax Accounting to steer global tax provisioning, reporting, and forecasting. You will partner with the Chief Tax Officer and senior finance leaders to optimize the effective tax rate, capital planning, and advisory for acquisitions, while managing a team of four tax professionals across complex regulatory landscapes.

The role requires a CPA, at least 10 years of corporate tax experience, and 5+ years of people management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related quantitative field; military experience acceptable.
• CPA designation active or previously achieved and currently inactive.
• 10+ years of progressive corporate tax experience within a public corporation or an accounting firm.
• 5+ years in a dedicated people-management capacity.

Responsibilities

• Lead the global tax provision (ASC 740) for quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Oversee tax disclosures in SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q) with accuracy.
• Manage the consolidated effective tax rate and global deferred tax assets/liabilities.
• Lead tax forecasting for ETR, DTA, and credit capacity projections.
• Direct tax workstreams for CCAR, capital planning, and stress testing.
• Mentor and develop a team of 4 tax professionals; foster collaboration.
• Partner with Tax Planning on tax implications of M&A and dispositions.
• Maintain SOX-compliant internal controls over income taxes.
