Job summary

Guidehouse seeks an Associate Director of Employee Relations Consulting to lead a centralized ER consulting team supporting business leaders and HR partners across the organization. This remote US role emphasizes risk-informed guidance, consistent case handling, and strong stakeholder collaboration.

You will partner with HRBPs, Employment Counsel, and a centralized Investigations team, driving high-quality, defensible guidance and scalable ER services across geographies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and 10+ years of related HR experience.
• Significant experience in Employee Relations, HR, Labor Relations, or related HR function.
• Knowledge of federal and state EEO laws and state HR policies.
• Experience leading teams in large, global, matrixed organizations.
• Experience leading ER professionals in matrixed or multi-business environments.
• Experience advising on performance issues, misconduct, policy application, and terminations.
• Experience in a centralized Employee Relations model.
• Ability to manage sensitive, high-risk, high-visibility issues with sound judgment.
• Strong case management, documentation, and cross-functional partnership skills.
• Experience partnering with Legal, HRBPs, and centralized investigations.
• Excellent written and verbal communications and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR technologies (HRIS, case management).
• Ability to gather and summarize investigative findings in writing.
• Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of ER Consultants aligned to business segments or geographies.
• Establish performance expectations, standards, and risk management for consultants.
• Provide direction, case consultation, and escalation on sensitive ER matters.
• Build team capability in ER consulting, coaching, policy application, and documentation.
• Partner with Investigations on scope, context, and post-investigation actions.
• Define handoffs between ER, Centralized Investigations, and broader HR/Legal teams.
• Collaborate with ER Operations to improve tools, workflows, and case documentation.
• Support organizational readiness and ER strategy; drive large-scale restructurings as needed.
• Stay current on employment laws to ensure policy compliance.
