Job summary

First National Bank of Omaha seeks a Sr. Director, Advanced Data Scientist to lead the data science and modeling function within the Partnership Division.

You will define multi-year modeling roadmaps, oversee development of credit-risk models, and drive strategic, cross-functional initiatives with executive visibility. You will independently own model development end-to-end, applying advanced ML techniques to large datasets, and ensuring models meet regulatory and business requirements.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Statistics, Data Science, CS, Mathematics, OR, Econometrics, or related quantitative field.
• 7+ years of experience developing statistical or ML models, preferably in financial services or consumer credit with credit card models.
• Strong experience with Python and/or R; strong SQL skills.
• Experience with gradient boosting/XGBoost/LightGBM, ensemble methods, neural networks, and other advanced ML techniques.
• Experience with model explainability techniques such as SHAP and partial dependence.
• Experience with full model-development lifecycle including development, implementation, and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Define multi-year modeling roadmap for credit risk models and portfolio management.
• Lead development of advanced ML models for credit card acquisition, underwriting, and account management.
• Translate business objectives into modeling frameworks with performance criteria.
• Establish training/validation/out-of-time testing strategies and document methodology.
• Partner with model validation and risk management teams to address challenges and incorporate feedback.
• Establish best practices for ML model development, testing, documentation, and deployment.
