Job summary

First National Bank of Omaha is seeking a Sr. Director, Advanced Data Scientist to lead the data science and modeling strategy within the Partnership Division.

The role shapes multi-year credit-risk models, oversees model development, and drives cross-functional business impact. Ideal candidates bring 7+ years in statistical/ML modeling, strong Python/R and SQL expertise, and a track record in credit decisioning and portfolio management.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in a quantitative field is required.
• PhD strongly preferred for advanced ML and research experience.
• 7+ years building statistical or ML models in financial services.
• Experience with credit-card acquisition, underwriting, and risk modeling.
• Proven ability to handle large datasets and deliver production-ready models.
• Expertise in Python and/or R with strong SQL skills.
• Experience with gradient boosting, neural nets, ensemble methods, and explainability tools.

Responsibilities

• Define and own a multi-year modeling roadmap for credit-risk models.
• Lead end-to-end model development from problem framing to production deployment.
• Translate business objectives into modeling frameworks and performance criteria.
• Develop monitoring and retraining strategies for model stability.
• Collaborate with risk, compliance, and technology partners on implementation.
• Conduct research into new ML methods and apply regulatory-aligned explainability.
