Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to support Veterans Affairs (VA) in a 100% remote role. This full-time position requires cloud and systems administration skills to keep complex production environments running reliably.

Experience with AWS/Azure, Linux/Windows, scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell), IaC, CI/CD, and security/compliance is essential. You will monitor, troubleshoot, document, and coordinate with cross-functional teams, and be on-call as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience with AWS and/or Azure Cloud services and monitoring.
• Proven track record managing large-scale production systems.
• Strong Linux/Windows administration and scripting skills.
• Hands-on with automation, IaC, and CI/CD tooling.
• Security, auditing, and compliance in production environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational support for cloud-based systems.
• Detect, document, and resolve system outages with rapid recovery.
• Maintain system assets inventory and VA compliance standards.
• Collaborate with users, developers, operations, and security teams.
• On-call support and continuous improvement of IT processes.
