Job summary

Fuze Health Inc. seeks a Senior Database Administrator to lead the Hospice-facing database modernization. You will drive SQL Server on EC2 toward AWS RDS, modernize SSIS/SSRS, and optimize costs while upskilling the Hospice DBA team for cloud operations.

You will ensure HITRUST/HIPAA compliance, implement robust backup/DR, and partner with DevOps for infrastructure automation. This role is pivotal for healthcare applications serving hospice patients nationwide.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of database administration experience.
• Deep expertise with Microsoft SQL Server (2016+) performance tuning, high availability, disaster recovery.
• Hands-on experience upgrading SQL Server (e.g., 2016 end-of-support) and testing compatibility.
• Strong SSIS and SSRS skills in ETL and reporting.
• Experience with AWS RDS (SQL Server) setup, migration, and Multi-AZ.
• Familiarity with AWS DMS and AWS Glue is a plus.
• Backup/restore strategies and cross-region replication expertise.
• HIPAA/HITRUST compliant environment experience.
• Windows Server administration experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead SQL Server modernization on EC2 and migration to AWS RDS.
• Migrate and maintain SSIS ETL and SSRS reports; re-platform to AWS-native or upgrade on EC2.
• Drive cost optimization: right-size instances, Reserved Instances, storage tiers.
• Upskill Hospice SQL DBA team on AWS DB ops and cloud best practices.
• Establish cloud-native monitoring with Datadog and CloudWatch.
• Design automated backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes using AWS Backup.
• Perform query optimization, index management, and capacity planning.
• Collaborate with DevOps on Terraform for RDS and infra automation.
• Ensure HITRUST E1 compliance across database systems.
• Support Hospice app development with DB-related needs.
• Explore PostgreSQL/Aurora for 2027 roadmap.
