Job summary

RegEd is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to maintain and improve database systems and help design new ones using modern data technologies. You will handle design, performance tuning, complex SQL, and security in both on‑premise and cloud environments while collaborating with Architecture and Infrastructure teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years database analysis, programming or similar experience.
• Minimum 4 years as a Senior Database Developer or equivalent.
• Extensive hands-on experience in SQL 2016 or higher.
• Experience with cloud-based databases in Azure (Managed Instance, Azure SQL Hyperscale, Azure SQL DB, VMs).
• Experience with large databases (2+ TB).
• Experience writing complex procedures, functions and triggers.
• Understanding of execution plans, system views, and dynamic SQL.
• Strong understanding of database structures and practices.
• Proven ability to optimize OLTP/OLAP performance.
• Experience with HADR technologies (Always On, log shipping, backups).
• Experience with monitoring tools (SSMS, Grafana, PowerBI) and ETL tools (SSIS).
• Familiarity with Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL; familiarity with cloud-native platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, create, and maintain database objects across on‑premise and cloud databases.
• Optimize queries and develop efficient SQL code.
• Respond to database alerts and incidents within SLA time.
• Lead investigations and resolutions of database incidents including deadlocks.
• Build and maintain database monitoring infrastructure for alerts and dashboards.
• Support database security and compliance using encryption and masking tools.
• Advise on retention, tiering, and archiving strategies for high-volume production databases.
• Collaborate with Architecture, QA, App Development and Infra teams.
