Job summary

Code for America is seeking a Staff Solutions Engineer to collaborate with government partners and deliver technical guidance, bridging legacy systems with modern civic technology. You’ll work with designers, researchers, engineers, product managers, and policy experts across programs, with travel up to 10% and a US-based remote arrangement.

You will lead technical solutions, develop proofs-of-concept, and help government agencies modernize services using no/low-code approaches while aligning

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or Solutions Architect with experience leading projects and interacting with customers.
• 4+ years of experience coding backend systems and data infrastructure in an industry-standard language (Python, Java, C#, Ruby, etc)
• Recent experience integrating emerging technologies (e.g., generative AI models) into existing workflows or new solutions.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with government and partner organizations.
• Lead technical solutions and proof-of-concept projects.
• Develop training materials to empower government agencies to modernize services.
• Provide written resources to communicate complex technical concepts.
